The CVM CommunityDecember 2003

Our Mission:  To empower people in crisis and transition by providing free, personalized

24-hour voice mail access: directly linking people to jobs, housing and stability.

CVM Focus - Escaping Domestic Abuse

Community Voice Mail is an untraceable message number that never rings at an address. People who use CVM can arrange for childcare, receive messages from doctors, and stay in contact with friends and support.

For someone attempting to escape domestic abuse, Community Voice Mail can be a literal lifeline.

One Woman's Story - "Jane" took her 11-year-old daughter and left her abusive husband, only to find that local shelters had no available beds.  Forced to live in their car, there was no way for family members, prospective landlords or human services agencies to reach Jane and her daughter. When she finally got into a domestic violence shelter, Jane was signed up for Community Voice Mail.

Her case manager says, "when she found out she had the CVM resource, she cried."

COMMUNITY VOICE MAIL MEANS SAFETY.
